Blue Hills Hike SM

Every Friday, I feature a fun and budget-friendly option in the Greater Boston area. The “Feature Friday” is typically mentioned on the Cheap Eats list, Free Things to Do in Boston, or Discount Attractions. However, there’s so much budget-friendly ideas on my pages, I thought it would be fun to feature something budget-friendly and different each week. Also, each Feature Friday is something I have personal experience with or took advantage of recently! Enjoy!

Blue Hills Reservation is a state park South of Boston which stretches across six towns! Blue Hills is a great spot for hiking and outdoor activities outside the city, but still close enough to catch great skyline views:

Typically when I’ve been to Blue Hills in the past, I usually head to the Blue Hill Observatory or closeby; However, I had never been near the entrance right off Exit 6 (South Shore Plaza Exit) on 93, and I wanted to check the Quincy end of Blue Hills out.

We ended up parking near a trail and hiked up with my dog and shot a few skyline pics along the way. We ended up on a few different trails and it was fun to see another side of the mountain I hadn’t been on.

Blue Hills is a great way to spend a few hours in a peaceful setting still very close to the city. (We didn’t come across many people during our late-morning Sunday hike.)

I would say the best and easiest way to get to Blue Hills is by car. However, you can take the MBTA bus or commuter rail (depending on schedules) if you do not have a car. If you need directions to get to the mountain, please head here(Entering Blue Hills from Quincy was really easy, but we did take a scenic drive through Blue Hills before we decided to park.)
