This Saturday, May 16, the West 7th district is hosting a Welcome Home Troops Block Party from 6-10 p.m. on Crockett Street. All branches and all levels of service (active, retired, veteran and reserve) will be recognized for their dedication to the country. Planned activities at this FREE event include:
Memorial Wall – Located in the north central garage paseo up from May 1st through May 31st inviting citizens to come post pictures, notes, or tributes to loved ones they have lost.
Navy Honor Guard – An honor guard has been scheduled to attend and present a special demonstration to salute those we have lost.
Live Music – Several bands will perform throughout the evening including headliner Austin Allsup.
Special Appearances – Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Sal Espino and Councilman Dennis Shingleton, a retired Army Colonel, will attend and give their words of praise and appreciation to our Armed Forces of Fort Worth.
The organizers of the event have also partnered with Honor Courage Commitment, an organization whose mission is to train veterans for business careers and other pursuits. If you can, bring a few bucks to donate to them.
