This Saturday, Traders Village is hosting a free concert by one of the best tribute bands on the scene. From 7:00 to 10:00 pm on Saturday, April 13 under the Big Red Patio, the Rush Tribute Project will bring their painstakingly authentic recreation of one of the most legendary bands in rock n roll history: Rush. Whether you’re a diehard Rush fan or just know a few of their hits from classic rock radio, this is one free concert you don’t want to miss.
The Rush Tribute Project has gone to great lengths to recreate the look and sound of a live Rush show. The band plays the same vintage instruments that Rush plays and even dresses like the classic Canadian rock trio. If you close your eyes, you might even think you’re at a real Rush concert. The Rush Tribute Project plays material that spans the entire forty years of Rush’s career including both the band’s biggest hits and some of the lesser-known deep cuts and B-sides.
Rush exploded onto the North American rock n roll scene in the early 1970s with the release of their self-titled debut album. While that first big album was mostly guitar-driven blues rock in the style of Led Zeppelin and Cream, the band would go on to evolve their sound to feature synthesizers and imaginative and epic lyrics evoking the best of science fiction and fantasy. Rush has been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and the Canadian Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and has been awarded 3 multi-platinum albums, 14 platinum albums, and 24 gold albums. The Rush Tribute Project pays homage to this legendary rock group by recreating every single nuance of a Rush concert.
