The Hispanic Heritage Month 2021 kicked off on 15 September across the country. There are a ton of activities and events in store for everyone to honor and celebrate this month.
What is National Hispanic Heritage Month
The month is a marker as well as a celebration of Hispanic heritage which has a rich history in the United States. It is a way to recognize the contributions of the Latinx population to America’s history, culture and achievements.
It is also a time of great fun, festivals, parades, food and culture!
When is Hispanic Heritage Month 2021
The Hispanic Heritage month kicked off on 15 September and will go on till 15 October. It first began as Hispanic Heritage Week but in 1988, an entire month was dedicated to the commemoration of this culture. The date 15 September was chosen as the start because it marks the independence of the five Hispanic countries namely Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
This year, there are quite a few parades and parties planned especially as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month activities and events.

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens | ¡Celebramos!: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage
What: Come and enjoy performances, exhibitions, shopping, dining and movies at this celebration of Hispanic heritage at the botanical gardens in the city. There’s a local market, some cooking lessons, a talk on new species discovered in Mexico and lots more at the festival. This is a long and inclusive celebration of Hispanic heritage you don’t want to miss.

Entre Amigos: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
What: Brought forth by the Artes de la Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts, this event is in fact the inaugural performance of the 75th anniversary season of Fort Worth Opera. The one-night-only concert will highlight an exciting mix of arias, art songs, boleros, zarzuela romanzas and traditional rancheras created by some iconic Mexican artists.

Creemos en Texas
What: A panel discussion of leaders in government, business, education and community will shed their valuable insights on Latinx cultures and histories, their perspectives of economic opportunities in Texas and how they have contributed to economic recovery. Attend this talk to know more about the contribution of the Hispanic community towards the development of Texas.

National Hispanic Heritage Month Activities
Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World
What: This performance set up by the Fort Worth Opera features a work by composer Joe Illick and Pulitzer Prize-winning librettist Mark Campbell who will present before children a spectacular opera with puppets in the lead! Based on the book by English author and illustrator Laurence Anholt, the work will tell the story of Marianna Morillo Safa and her friendship with famed painter Frida Kahlo.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration
What: Come and celebrate Hispanic heritage at this event where you can explore the culture of Hispanic communities through various activities and culinary delights. There are a ton of DIY things that you can make at the celebration while supplies last! So make sure you get in line quick!

Texas LatinX Pride Fest 2021
What: This pride event which first began in 2014 will celebrate and honor the diverse Hispanic/Latinx culture in a way that promotes inclusivity within the community. Texas Latino Pride is one of the Lone Star state’s premier music festivals which celebrates the cultural moorings of the Hispanic community in Fort Worth.
