The Design District is soon to be home to the HiFi Dallas, a small music venue located off of I35 right next to the Dallas Maverick’s training facility. This new venue can accommodate up to 1,000 people and is the brainchild of Mark Cuban, the owner of the basketball team.
“The Design District has been waiting for an entertainment destination, and the building was a perfect place,” Cuban told the Dallas Morning News. “And, of course, we have all the parking right there, and it can leverage the traffic coming from the [American Airlines Center]” only just across the freeway.
Although the HiFi has promised that their venue will be “brand new, top to bottom,” they have also taken care to respect the building’s history as a furniture store and “provide a nod to the building’s previous life.”
The Hifi will an intimate venue, contrasting its gargantuan neighbor, the American Airlines Center. However, this venue promises to be small and mighty with “state of the art sound, lights, and production” as well as “Mezzanine and VIP areas with unparalleled sightlines, dedicated service, and personalized hospitality. ”
The venue will also feature food, cocktail, and drink menus as well as an outdoor patio and elevated VIP Echo Lounge with drinks, DJs, and more.
Cuban has partnered with entertainment giant LiveNation for this project. LiveNation manages several venues across DFW including the American Airlines Center, the House of Blues, and the Toyota Music Factory in Irving.
“We were very eager to build a special, extremely fan-friendly and tremendously intimate venue in Dallas,” LiveNation’s president the clubs and theaters, Ron Bension, told the Dallas Morning News. Bension and CEO Micheal Rapino said that Dallas is “a great market which we are heavily invested in.”
While there are no acts announced yet, the HiFi promises that concerts will be announced “very soon” and is scheduled to open May 2020.
