The Tarrant County Back to School Roundup happens on August 10 at the Will Rogers Center. This is a yearly event that helps needy students in Tarrant County get free school supplies and other necessities before the school year begins. To attend the roundup and get supplies, you must pre-register your child. Pre-registration events have been happening throughout the summer, but there are still a few registration events left to attend. You can see the complete list of pre-registration events here. The last two will happen as follows:
Monday, Aug. 1: H&R Block, 1828 E. Park Row Dr. Ste A, Arlington – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 3: H&E Block, 5411 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Before you go to the pre-registration event, you will need to bring some documents. You must bring a picture ID (drivers license, state ID or military ID, consular ID), proof of Tarrant County residency (utility bill from June, July or August; mail sent to your address with postmark from June, July or August; letter from landlord on company letterhead from June, July or August) and proof of income. Proof of income can include paycheck stubs, a letter from your employer verifying your annual income, or a letter showing participation in Medicaid, a free lunch program, or other benefit program. You must meet the HHS Federal Poverty Guidelines to qualify to participate in the roundup. You can see those guidelines here. For more information on the documents you will need to bring, see this page. You’ll also need to fill out a registration form.
In addition to receiving school supplies, kids who participate in the roundup can also get free immunizations, haircuts, dental/vision screenings, and more.
The Will Rogers Center is at 3401 W. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth.
