If there isn’t room in your budget for next year’s school supplies, make plans to attend the Tarrant County Back to School Roundup on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the Will Rogers Center. At this event, approximately 10,000 students in grades K-12 will receive free school supplies. Kids in pre-K through 5th grade will also receive backpacks. This is always a very popular event with lots of attendees. The Back to School Roundup also includes:
- free haircuts for kids
- Free dental screenings, fluoride applications, free toothbrushes and toothpaste for students
- free immunizations for school kids
- Free health screenings and services for both schoolchildren and their families
- Kids activities, games and interactive demonstrations and booths
To be eligible to receive school supplies, you must reside in Tarrant County and meet the 2012 Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. You must also pre-register for the event by July 30 by printing this registration form and bringing it to an upcoming pre-registration event, along with proof of residency (utility bill, lease or other mail) and proof of income (check stub, Medicaid or CHIP letter, TANF Award Letter, free/reduced lunch award letter, etc.). The first pre-registration event is on June 26 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kennedale Community Center. Start gathering your documentation now and get your ducks in a row well before registration so you’re sure to get a spot!
