Dallas-Fort Worth Winter Camps: The Best Holiday Camps for Kids

Thanksgiving and Winter breaks are upon us and you may be wondering what to do with the kids while they’re out of school. Whether you need full time childcare or you’re just looking for a fun way to entertain the little ones, we have it all.

Here is our 2019 list of The Best Holiday Camps for Kids in DFW:

 

THANKSGIVING & WINTER CAMPS IN DFW

DeSoto Public Library

This is one camp free and open to the public! Enjoy Story Book Activities, Group Games, Cooking Classes, and more. There are no drop-offs, parents must attend. {If DeSoto is too far away, check your local library. All libraries have classes and events going on all year long!}

  • Thanksgiving Week {November 25 – 27} from 11 am – 4 pm. All activities are 1-2 hours long and are come-and-go.

City of Dallas

This affordable option is great for families of all ages and sizes. There will be crafting, field trips, video games, sports, and more at these Dallas winter camps. Camps are going on across the city at local community centers and each camp is just $40 per child.

  • Thanksgiving Camps {November 25 – 27} have multiple times, dates, and locations.
  • Winter Camps {December 23 – January 3} with multiple times, dates, and locations.

Texas Instruments

Texas Instruments Kids Camp is for kids and teens to learn crafts, structured games, swimming, and more. Campers will be divided by age-appropriate groups for full-day options at just $35 – $40 per session.

  • Thanksgiving Camp is November 25 – 27.
  • Winter camp is December 23 – January 6th with holidays and other dates off.

North Texas Performing Arts

Get the kids involved in theatre! These fall and winter camps are for kids of all ages, during Thanksgiving and Winter. Prices and times vary as the camps have many options.

  • Thanksgiving Camps {November 25 – 27}, $40 for mornings, $50 for afternoons, $80 for full day.
  • Winter camps {December 30 – January 3} for kids age 4 – 12, $160 – $325 at various times.

Sci-Tech Discovery Center

This school has multiple enrollment dates and camps from Thanksgiving through New Year! Most holiday camps focus squarely on STEM with activities such as art prints, take-home plants, anatomy lessons, and paper-making. Camps are $20 for members, $25 for non-members.

  • Thanksgiving Camps {November 27 – 27} offer morning and afternoon options for kids in grades 1 – 6.
  • Winter {December 26 – January 3} for kids from grades 1 – 6.

Young Chef’s Academy

This local cooking school specializes in teaching kids! They have half-day camps with a variety of recipes, techniques, and subject matter.

  • Thanksgiving Camp {November 25 – 27} is 3 hours each morning at $60 per day. You can also purchase all three days for just $150!
  • Winter Camp {December 26 – 27} is 3 hours in the afternoon and is just $100 when you purchase both days.

Perot Museum

Perot Museum is hosting their annual Fall Discovery Camps with before and after care available for an additional charge. Each class features hands-on lessons, old-school tools and modern equipment, mystery solving, and more. Camps are for kids in Pre-K through 4th, divided by age, with half-day options available for the younger kids.

  • Thanksgiving Camps {November 25 – 27}  are wait-listed at $150- $216.
  • Winter Camps {December 30 – January 3} are available at $292 per child and member discounts are available!

University of Texas Dallas

This coding camp runs during Thanksgiving and Winter Break! Students will need to bring their own laptop computer. Camps also have early drop off and late pick up. These camps are for kids in grades 3 and up.

  • Thanksgiving Camp {November 25 – 27} is offered in two sessions- morning and afternoon- for all three days. Camps are $125 each when you book before November 23! After that, it will be an additional $50 per camp.
  • Winter Camp {January 2-4} offers full day and half day camps. Half day camps are $75 per day, full day camps are $150 each. After December 27, each camp rate goes up by $25.

 

WINTER BREAK CAMPS

FC Dallas Camps

One of the best Soccer schools in all of Texas also hosts a winter camp!  There are multiple levels of development for players of various ages and skill levels. The event is going down at the Toyota Stadium with elite coaches.

  • December 27 – 29, from 9 am – 12 pm, just $120 for the entire session!

Alley Cats

This is one camp every kid will love. They will play games, hit up the batting cages, play board games, and more. Kids will need to pack a lunch or purchase a $6 lunch plate on site. You must attend at least two days at $40 each. Sign up for the full week and you pay just $135.

  • December 19 – January 3, 7:30 am – pm, at multiple locations.

Dallas Cowboys Dance Academy

Learn the fundamentals of Cheer-leading with core values and an interactive environment. This camp is for kids of all skill levels from age 6 – 16. Camps run 9 am to 3:30 pm with lunch from Papa John’s! Current Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders will be coaching the kids on site.

  • December 30 & January 2, $150 per camper, at AT&T Stadium

Dallas Mavericks Hoop Camp

Select players will be coaching the kids to teach them fundamentals, communication, and sportsmanship. Campers will need to bring their own lunch. Camps are held at three different locations in two sessions for kids aged 8 – 18

  • December 28, 9 am to 1 pm, $65 {Or, $25 off when you register before December 16!}
  • January 2 – 4, 9 am – 4 pm, $175 {Or, $150 before December 24!}

Oil & Cotton

For kids who love arts and crafts, there is no better winter camp than this! This camp is designed for kids aged  4 – 12 years old who want to learn painting, sketching, collaging, and more. Prices are $45 per camp, per child, with half day and full day options. Plus, siblings get a discount!

  • December 19 – 22, 9 am – 12 noon and 1 – 4 pm.
  • December 27 – 30, 9 am – 12 noon and 1 – 4 pm.

Heard Museum Camps

Heard Winter Camps each have a different topic and activity. Camps are $18 each for members, $22 each for non members. Programs are separated by age and scheduled for 9:30 am – 12 noon on select dates.

  • December 27, “What’s Up With Winter?” for kids in 1st through 6th grade.
  • January 2, DinoMite Jr., for kids in Pre-K and Kindergarten.
  • January 3, DinoMite for kids in 1st through 6th Grade.

The Cupcake Shoppe Winter Camp

This local bakery offers a full day camp for kids who love cupcakes, baking, and more. Prices are $60 per day, or $150 for all three days. This is for kids aged 4 – 16 years old.

  • January 2 – 4 from 9 am to 4 pm at Young Chef’s Academy.
