There is no better way to see Dallas-Fort Worth than from the air! Observation decks are not as popular as they once were but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth seeking out! Dallas-Fort Worth has a few special places where you can get an awesome view and you should definitely check out every single one of them. It’s one of the best things to do on the weekend in DFW!
Here is your guide to DFW Observation Decks:
GeO-Deck at Reunion Tower
Possibly the most well-known and tallest public observation deck in all of Dallas, Reunion Tower is situated right in the heart of downtown Dallas. The GeO-Deck has plenty to do- take in the sights, view Dallas through the telescopes, and other fun family-friendly activities. Admission ranges from $8 to $22, depending on the time of day you want to visit and how old you. If you plan on seeing multiple attractions in Dallas, CityPASS includes admission to GeO-Deck and is a great way to get discounted tickets. Children under 3 are always free!
Cloud Nine Cafe
Cloud Nine Cafe is also located inside of Reunion Tower but we think it deserves its own shout-out. You’ll have to purchase regular admission to the GeO-Deck if you want to visit the cafe but it’s totally worth it! Dine in the clouds, with a revolving view of Dallas! You can also visit Five-Sixty by Wolgang Puck in the same location but it will come with a higher bill.
Old Red Museum
You can’t go all the way up to the Clock Tower but the entire museum is lined with windows, giving you several different views of Dealey Plaza. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students with ID, and $7 for children aged 3 – 17 years old. Kids under 3 are free!
Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza
Located on the West End of Downtown Dallas, this museum is dedicated to none other than the assassination of John F. Kennedy Jr. Although the subject may be morbid, the museum still has a picturesque view of Dealey Plaza and the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Admission is $18 for adults and $14 for youths.
Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The famed architectural pioneering museum does not have a ton of skyline views but there is one in particular you absolutely must see. Take the glass-encased escalator upstairs- it only goes up! The escalator seems to float in air and allows skyline views of Dallas. General admission to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science for nonmembers starts at $13 for kids and $20 for adults.
Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge
Okay, this isn’t an observation deck and you won’t get a birds-eye view of the Dallas’ skyscrapers but it’s still a really cool view of the Trinity River and Trinity Groves. Admission to the bridge is totally free! They have a small playground for kids, plus you’ll often find ice cream carts and live dancers.
Trinity River Gateway Park Observation Decks
If views of nature are what you crave, just head to the Trinity River Gateway Park. Both the North and South sections have platform viewing areas where you can get a big dose of Mother Earth. Plus, they’re both free!
