The Franklin Park Zoo’s most popular event of the year is returning once again to let guests see the zoo like they’ve never seen it before. Roars & Pours is the Franklin Park Zoo’s annual wine and beer tasting event and has become one of the most talked about events in Boston each year. Throughout the evening, guests can stroll among the diverse animal exhibits in the zoo’s unique Tropical Forest Pavilion while sampling different wines. The pavilion contains such creatures as lowland gorillas, pygmy hippos, ring-tailed lemurs, a giant eater, and other exotic animals.
This year, the pavilion is hosting a Wicked BIG Bugs exhibit where guests can get a glimpse of what some of the world’s most terrifying insects would look if our size differences were reversed. That is, the exhibit allows (human) visitors to gaze upon giant-sized versions of formidable bugs like an 8-foot-tall tarantula or an emperor scorpion with a tail that rises 15 feet into the air.
Proceeds from Roars & Pours go towards supporting the growth, maintenance, and support of the zoo’s facilities, educational programs, and conservation initiatives.
