Summers are already here! And, this year, especially in view of the restrictions and closures last year, summers are going to be even more special. With a range of events scheduled in summer 2021, Franklin Zoo & Stone Zoo take wildlife excitement and enjoyment to the next level. Right from lanterns to walking among dinosaurs, the events promise something special for people of all ages.
Zoo Events in Boston – Summer of 2021!
Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience (July 23 – October 11 at FPZ)
Witness the spectacular sight of hundreds of beautifully crafted lanterns spread across a whopping 72 acres of the zoo’s land. The event is proudly presented by National Grid.
Event features over 60 stunning displays, made up of hundreds of wonderfully handmade lanterns. You can walk through glistening corridors of lotus and sunflowers, cranes and cherry blossoms, and a Tyrannosaurus Rex tunnel that stretches 87 feet!
Flamingle (July 31 at Stone Zoo)
Experience an exclusive evening featuring incredible animal encounters, a sumptuous four-course tasting menu, and, not to forget, music at Flamingle! Enjoy the sounds of the Caribbean with a live steel drum band, and learn about important conservation initiatives from the Zoo’s animal care team, educators, and field conservation staff. Complimentary brews will be provided by Turtle Swamp Brewery and wine by Jam Jar and Indaba. Snack on Seasons 52’s signature mini indulgences and cupcakes courtesy of Bedford Cupcakes.
Guests who purchase a VIP ticket will also be able to name a member of Stone Zoo’s beautiful Caribbean flamingo flock!
Ales & Tails (August 21 at Stone Zoo)
Ales & Tails is a 21+ after-hours event and a chance for people to sip and stroll through the zoo and see animals such as jaguars, sloths, alligators and more ! . The money gathered through this event will be used to support Stone Zoo.

T. Rex Adventure (September 6 at Stone Zoo)
This is one of our top picks among the summer 2021 zoo events in Boston. Walk back into time, and experience the prehistoric age while walking among giant creatures that once lived on the planet, and form a topic of curiosity for everyone, even after millions of years today.
From a towering 42-foot-long T-Rex to the 20-foot-long plant-eating Plateosaurus, you’ll come face to face with huge monsters from the past. A variety of moving and roaring dinosaurs, as well as authentic dinosaur skeletons, are hidden among the trees.
Admission to the T. Rex Adventure is included with regular Zoo admission. It is necessary to purchase tickets in advance over the internet.
Franklin Park Zoo
The Franklin Park Zoo is a zoo in Boston, Massachusetts. The zoo is spread across 72 acres and is currently operated by Zoo New England. It is located in the northeastern portion of Franklin Park, one of the largest parks in Boston. The Franklin Park zoo opened in 1912. It features over 1000 animals and is home to 220 species. It has numerous exhibits that include The Tropical Forest, Kalahari Kingdom, Serengeti Crossing, Outback Trail, Bird’s World, Giraffe Savannah, and others. Stone Zoo
Stone Zoo is a medium- to small-sized zoo of about 26 acres in Stoneham, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1905, the zoo includes low-lying areas densely developed with smaller exhibits for animals as well as rocky forested hillsides devoted to larger habitats for Species Survival Plan programs.
