For over 40 years, the Concord Youth Theatre has provided a place for area youth to engage in the creative arts, even helping launch the career of A-List Hollywood star Chris Evans. But last year, the theater was forced out of its old Baker Avenue home, and in the months since, has been operating out of a temporary location. Now, that’s all changed as the Concord Youth Theatre recently celebrated the opening of its new permanent home with the help of Evans.

On October 19, the Captain America actor returned home to help celebrate the grand opening of Concord Youth Theatre’s new space at 53 Church St., standing alongside his mother Lisa Evans, the theater’s artistic director.

In a speech to the crowd in attendance, Chris Evans said the theater had been “a home away from home” for him as a 9-year-old child, allowing him to explore what would become his career and propel him to worldwide fame.

While the actor is obviously busy with a successful career in Hollywood, Evans said he will continue to support the local theater as an advisor, adding that he is “excited to see it grow and affect generations to come” in the same way it affected him as a kid.

The new theater location offers a 200-seat theater, spaces for classes and workshops for youth, world-class lighting and equipment, and more.

The first show at the new Concord Youth Theatre is Godspell, running October 24-27. Other upcoming shows this season include Anne of Green Gables101 Dalmatians, Little Mermaid, and Pinnochio. Tickets are normally just $15 for these shows.

Whether you want to sign your kids up for classes or simply wish to support the theater by attending a show, you can learn more on their website.
