With increasing concern of the Coronavirus spread over the past week, the city of Boston has announced numerous schools and event cancellations and closings. Find out what’s been closed, canceled and postponed in Boston due to the Coronavirus below.

SPORTING EVENTS

The Boston Marathon: Announced this morning, the Marathon will be postponed to September 14th

Celtics and Bruins: The NBA and NHL have suspended the season until further notice

Red Sox: The MLB has suspended opening day dates until further notice

CONVENTIONS & FESTIVALS:

 ACE Comic Con Northeast: The event was scheduled from March 20-22 at Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, however, is called off

Irish Festival, Foxborough:  The Irish Festival which was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14, is canceled

MIT Events: All events with 150 people or more are canceled or postponed effective immediately

South Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade: The parade, originally scheduled for Sunday, March 15, is canceled

The Power of Narrative, Boston: The organizers notified attendees that the event is canceled and postponed until 2021.

A.R.T. Gala The A.R.T Gala scheduled for March 30, is postponed until fall

New England Cannabis Convention, Boston: The convention, scheduled for March 20-22, is postponed until further notice.

Irish Film Festival, Somerville: Postponed to November 19-22, 2020

Tech and Innovation UnConference, Cambridge: Postponed the conference, which was originally scheduled for Friday, March 13.

Seafood Expo North America, Boston: Originally scheduled for March 15-17, the event will be postponed

Encore Boston Harbor: Postponing the following events: Mirua Vineyards Wine Dinner and the St. Patrick’s Day Irish Whiskey Master Class.

Boscon 2020 Quality Conference, Boston: Initially scheduled for March 30-31, will be postponed to October 19-20

Bourbon and Bacon, Boston: postponed to October 3, 2020.

MUSEUMS:

Boston Children’s Museum: Closed to the public through April 3rd

Harvard Art and Museums: canceled numerous events through May 19, following the decision by Harvard University to move on-campus classes online. For more information on the canceled events visit Harvard Art and Museums’ website.

Institute of Contemporary Art: All programs are canceled or postponed

JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Boston: Closed until further notice

MassArt Art Museum, Boston: Closed from Thursday, March 12, through Sunday, March 22

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston: Closed until further notice

Museum of Science: Closed until further notice

New England Aquarium: Closed until further notice 

 

MUSIC & THEATER:

Boston Ballet: All performances of Carmen scheduled for March 12-22 to August 20-30 are postponed

Events at Berklee College of Music, Boston: All events and performances are canceled starting Saturday, March 14, until further notice.

Boch Center: All performances canceled or postponed through Monday, March 30

Boston Symphony Orchestra:  All performances are canceled from Friday, March 13, through Saturday, March 28

Dropkick Murphys Concert: Postponing their St. Patrick’s Day shows and boxing events

Abington Public Schools: Closed Friday, March 13th

Acton-Boxborough Regional Schools:  Beginning Friday, March 13, all schools in the district would be closed until March 20

Algonquin Regional High School: Closed Friday, March 13

Amherst College, Amherst: Remote classes beginning after spring break ends on March 23

Arlington Public Schools: Canceled through at least March 27

Babson College, Wellesley: Babson will move to online classes starting Friday, March 13

Bedford Public Schools: Closed until March 27

Bellingham Public Schools: The school district announced it will be closed Friday, March 13

Belmont Public Schools: The school district has announced it will close until at least March 27

Beverly Public Schools:  Closed Friday, March 13

Billerica Public Schools: Closed Friday, March 13

Blackstone-Millville Public Schools: Closed Friday, March 13

Boston College: Moving to online instruction starting from March 12, through the end of the Spring Semester

Boston University: Classes held online effective March 16 until April 13

Boxford Public Schools: Closed on Friday, March 13

Braintree Public Schools: Closed Friday, but did not offer any further details

Brandeis University, Waltham: Moving to all on-campus classes online by Thursday, March 26, with Friday, March 20 as the last day of in-person classes

Bridgewater State University: Classes are canceled next week and will resume (mostly online) by Monday, March 23

Brockton Public Schools: Closed Friday, March 13

Brookline Public Schools: All Brookline Public Schools will be closed Friday, March 13

Bunker Hill Community College: Closed Thursday through Monday, March 16.

Burlington Public Schools: Closed until March 27

Canton Public Schools: Closed Friday, March 13

Carver Public Schools: Closed Friday, March 13

Chelsea Public Schools: Closed indefinitely beginning Friday, March 13
