What else can be said about 2021? The year has been filled with disaster upon disaster as Bostonians seek power through to the new year. Charlestown’s The Anchor is among the multi-purpose public gathering place staying in the holiday spirit this year as well. On December 10th, the repurposed Navy Shipyard will present a holiday tree lighting as part of their “Winter Garden”. 50 trees of all different shapes and sizes will be lit.

But be sure to come early in the day to enjoy ice sculpture carvings, eat s’mores, and drink hot chocolate. Plus, the events will stream live on Facebook so people can watch from home. The events will be COVID-19 friendly with social distancing measures in place.

Attendees will be given complimentary blankets. Also, they’ll be able to warm up in heated igloos and outdoor heat lamps. Beverages will include tea, apple cider, and a collection of local beers and wine. And a full food menu will be provided to patrons. This is truly a venue for all ages.

But that’s not all. December 10th isn’t the only day there will be events at The Anchor. The venue will be open daily through New Year’s Day. Events will include cookie decorating, paint parties, and ice sculpture displays. And stay tuned, because The Anchor will be releasing its New Year’s event schedule in the near future!

The Anchor is here to remind Boston area residents of a pre-COVID time while keeping patrons safe to enjoy the festivities. The Anchor is located at 1 Shipyard Park, Charlestown, MA 02129. It is free to enter and open to all ages!
