One of the most beloved and enduring children’s stories of all time has found a new home right here in Boston. Lewis Carroll’s 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, more commonly referred to as simply Alice in Wonderland, has been adapted into countless versions for print, television, movies, and the stage in its 154-year history. Now, Alice’s misadventures in Wonderland can be experienced first-hand as the new Alice in the Village tea room opens at Patriot Place in Foxborough.
Alice in the Village opened officially on April 15 after a few weeks of a “soft open.” The entire shop was designed from the ground-up to recreate the experience of having a tea party with the Hatter, the White Rabbit, Alice, and all of the other beloved characters from Carroll’s timeless tale.
Alice in the Village offers an eclectic menu of tea and treats including French macarons, cake pops, cookies, scones, crumpets, and an massive list of teas ranging from bubble tea to color-changing butterfly pea tea and featuring more than 150 loose-leaf teas from upscale tea company Harney & Sons. Aside from tea and crumpets, Alice in the Village offers soups, salads, and savory pastries and sandwiches.
The biggest attraction at Alice in the Village is without a doubt the full-service guided tea services. Each day, the shop offers three different tea services at High Tea, Afternoon Tea, and Nursery Tea. “For most people, it’s their first experience with tea service,” owner Ellie Greenberg says. “People don’t realize it’s a full meal. Everybody leaves with boxes — it’s a lot of food.” A full tea service offers sandwiches, scones, quiches, salads, and more depending on the tea service. The Nursery Tea service is the most kid-friendly, offering quirky color-changing teas, cupcakes, and brushes and edible paints with which to decorate cupcakes.
Alice in the Village is located at Patriot Place at 266 Patriot Place, Foxborough, MA 02035. The shop is open Sundays through Fridays from 11am to 7pm and Saturdays from 11am to 8pm. For more information visit AliceInTheVillage.net.
