Song For Hope: The Ryan Anthony Story Screening
What: This Wednesday, the Dallas International Film Festival, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and CancerBlows will present the screening of “Song for Hope: The Ryan Anthony Story,” a film celebrating renowned trumpet virtuoso and Dallas Symphony Orchestra Principal Trumpet Emeritus Ryan Anthony. The film portrays the incredible life of Anthony who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma at the age of 42 and given just months to live. Instead of letting the news crush him, it motivated Anthony to start a charity called CancerBlows and prove to the world that music can save lives. The film will chronicle his journey from being a child prodigy to his time in cancer clinics and treatments to his sell-out concerts in symphony halls.
Before the film, you can enjoy an exhibit featuring photos and mementos from Anthony’s life and performances. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will also be performing Peter Meechan’s “Song of Hope” which was dedicated to Anthony. Lastly, after the film, there will be a Q&A with the filmmakers and Niki, Jackson, and Rowan Anthony.
