Enchanted: A History of Fantasy Illustration
Take a journey from the Middle Ages through ancient mythology, fairy tales, and heroes and villains to contemporary artwork from popular shows such as The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. This one’s an opportunity for you to see over 140 artworks created by over 100 artists across five centuries.
Land of Enchantment: A Fantastical Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
Enjoy Land of Enchantment, illustrating the imaginative potential of art. See various sculptural works throughout the museum’s 36 acres. The sculptural works are inspired by the vision of each artist and that of the exhibition’s themes of classical and contemporary fairy tales, mythology, and amazing heroes and villains.
Upcoming Events
Outdoor Art Workshops – The Magic of Trees, Plein Air with Ruth Sanderson (Saturday, August 7, 1 PM to 4 PM)
Ruth Sanderson will demonstrate painting one of the many great trees on the museum’s grounds and incorporate a fantasy element into the painting, such as fairies, tree spirits, or other imaginary creatures. She will further instruct participants to help them create their oil paintings. This is a limited available event. Click here to save your spot.
Third Annual Art of Brewing Festival (Saturday, August 21, 1 PM to 4 PM)
Get to sample some of the best local brews and food and draw inspiration from illustration art in the galleries and beer cans. Participants get ten sample pours and a souvenir pint glass. Additionally, you can buy some food from some of the best local food truck vendors, see current and past label art from the brewers, and also enjoy the summer’s featured exhibitions in the galleries during the day. Raiders of the Lost Ark 40th Anniversary Screening (Wednesday, August 25, 6:30 PM)
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Raiders of the Lost Ark with an outdoor film screening sponsored by Berkshire Bank. The doors open at 6:30 PM to allow people to enjoy a lawn picnic before the show starts. However, get your own chair and blanket. Food and drink, including wine and beer, will be there for purchase.
