Here’s what to do and where to go in DFW this weekend:

Friday, Aug. 27:
Purple Fridays – see this entry for more info on specials for people wearing TCU colors.
Jazz at West 7th – go to the West 7th district in Fort Worth from 7-9 p.m. and listen to free music in the patio area on Crockett Street. This week’s band is Adonis Rose.
Music at Times Ten Cellars – free music by local bands at this winery (1100 Foch St.) from 7-11 p.m.
Last Friday Gallery Night – in Granbury. Walk around Granbury’s town square and explore its art galleries. Free on last Friday of every month, lasts from dusk-9 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 28:
Lowes Kids Workshop –
go to your local Lowe’s home improvement store at 10 a.m. and let your kid make a free wooden school bus. They’ll also get a coupon for a free Wendy’s Jr. Frosty upon completion of the workshop. Visit www.lowesbuildandgrow.com to RSVP.

Free Craft at Michaels – Bring the kids to Michael’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and they can make a free gift for their grandparents – a handprint magnet. Supplies are limited, so show up early.
Cowtown Farmers Market –
8 a.m. to noon, Edelweiss parking lot in Fort Worth (3821 Southwest Blvd) Shop local produce and other vendors.
Saturday Storytime for Kids – at the Barnes & Noble on Overton Ridge, 11 a.m.
Storytime at Barnes & Noble – 1 p.m. at the B&N at the Shops at North East Mall in Hurst. They will read Dinosaurs Love Underpants.
Fort Worth Home & Garden Market – Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the FW Convention Center. Get decorating, remodeling and home improvement ideas. Tickets are $9 for adults $7 for seniors and free for kids 14 and under. Print a coupon for $1 off a regular adult admission.
Open Mic Poetry – free event at the Barnes & Noble University Park Village location, 7:30 p.m. Hear original poetry and read your own.
Pregnancy & Parenting Fair – At North Richland Hills Library (9015 Grand Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get answers to your childbirth and parenting questions. Free.
Alice in Wonderland Movie & Tea Party – head to Half-Price Books in Dallas (5803 E. Northwest Hwy) to see Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp in the parking lot for free. Bring a chair. Free popcorn! Show begins at 8, but come at 7 for a special “Tea Party with the Mad Hatter” in the store’s community room.
